NYFW SS27: Inside LAUNCH, the Invite-Only Runway Redefining New York Fashion Week

NYFW SS27: Why LAUNCH Is the Show to Watch This Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027 arrives in September 2026, bringing designers, buyers, editors, creators, influencers, and fashion insiders from around the world to New York City.
Amid the major runway presentations and established fashion houses, LAUNCH Fashion Week is building something different.
On September 12, 2026, LAUNCH takes over Pearl Studios at 500 8th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan for a one-day fashion experience bringing together runway, retail, manufacturing, industry conversation, networking, influencers, and content creation.
Its message is simple:
THE FUTURE STARTS HERE.
What Is LAUNCH NYFW SS27?
LAUNCH is an independent fashion platform designed to give emerging and independent designers something increasingly difficult to find during Fashion Week: a place where showcasing a collection can lead to meaningful visibility, industry connections, content, commerce, and future growth.
Rather than functioning solely as a runway presentation, LAUNCH NYFW SS27 combines several sides of the fashion business under one roof.
The September 12 program includes:
Designer and production call time: 11:00 AM
Retail experience: 3:00 PM–7:00 PM
Runway presentations: 4:00 PM–7:00 PM
Industry networking and programming: Evening
Industry Seminar — “The Future of Fashion Supply Chain and Marketing”: 9:00 PM–10:00 PM
Times Square Fashion Photowalk: 11:00 PM
The result is a Fashion Week experience that continues beyond the moment a model reaches the end of the runway.
Runway Meets Retail
One of the defining elements of LAUNCH is its combination of runway presentation and direct-to-consumer retail.
Participating brands have the opportunity to present their creative vision on the runway while also putting their products in front of attendees through the event's retail component.
For an emerging designer, that distinction matters.
A runway show creates attention. Retail creates an opportunity to transform that attention into customers, feedback, relationships, and revenue.
LAUNCH is designed to connect the two.
From the Runway to the Supply Chain
LAUNCH also looks beyond the finished garment.
The platform is built around the belief that the future of fashion will increasingly depend on how brands design, source, manufacture, market, sell, repair, and ultimately extend the life of their products.
That conversation will take center stage during the event's industry programming, including “The Future of Fashion Supply Chain and Marketing.”
The discussion brings together the realities facing today's independent fashion businesses: lower-volume manufacturing, changing consumer expectations, sustainable production, direct-to-consumer commerce, technology, content, and the challenge of building profitable brands without the infrastructure traditionally available to major labels.
The Empire Loop
That broader vision is represented through The Empire Loop, LAUNCH's supply-chain and circular-fashion initiative.
The concept focuses on connecting fashion creation with the infrastructure required to support it — including local production, craftsmanship, repair, circularity, and new opportunities for independent brands.
Rather than treating sustainability simply as a marketing message, the goal is to explore how circularity can become part of a functioning fashion economy.
That includes looking at opportunities around local and nearshore manufacturing, repair, upcycling, small-batch production, direct-to-retail models, and community participation.
It reflects a larger question LAUNCH wants the industry to confront:
What happens after the runway?
An Emerging Designer Lineup
At the center of LAUNCH NYFW SS27 is a curated group of independent designers and brands bringing distinctly different perspectives to New York.
The emerging lineup includes designers such as LV Brooks of YO'JKTS, Abbie Jackson of Alterior Motive Performance Wear, and Troy Cleveland of YORT — Your Own Religious Truth, alongside additional designers currently being selected for the September runway.
The diversity of the lineup is intentional.
LAUNCH is designed as a platform where streetwear, independent luxury, performance apparel, conceptual fashion, culturally driven design, and emerging labels can share the same stage.
Beauty, Backstage and Content
For independent designers, participating in Fashion Week requires much more than simply arriving with a collection.
LAUNCH is structured to provide a broader production ecosystem around participating brands, including runway production, model coordination, backstage support, photography, media opportunities, and beauty.
For NYFW SS27, participating models and designers will also be supported by Official NYFW Beauty Director Jessica Thomas, whose work has been featured in publications including Vogue and InStyle.
The objective is to help designers leave Fashion Week not simply having "done a show," but with professional visual assets and content they can continue using long after September 12.
Influencers, Media and Fashion's New Front Row
The definition of the Fashion Week front row has changed.
Editors and buyers remain important, but today's fashion ecosystem also includes content creators, influencers, stylists, photographers, digital media personalities, entrepreneurs, and cultural tastemakers who can introduce an emerging label to audiences almost instantly.
LAUNCH is incorporating that reality into its NYFW SS27 experience.
Influencers and content creators will be invited throughout the event, creating opportunities for participating designers to generate organic social content, interviews, backstage coverage, runway imagery, and brand exposure.
For an independent designer without the marketing budget of an established fashion house, those connections can be particularly valuable.
A Full-Day Fashion Experience
LAUNCH is intentionally extending the experience beyond a traditional 15-minute runway presentation.
Guests can discover brands through the retail experience, watch collections on the runway, connect with designers and industry professionals, participate in evening networking and industry conversations, and then take fashion directly into the streets of Manhattan with the late-night Times Square Fashion Photowalk.
It turns September 12 into a progression:
DISCOVER → SHOP → RUNWAY → CONNECT → LEARN → CREATE
That structure reflects where LAUNCH believes Fashion Week is heading — toward experiences where fashion, commerce, content, education, and community increasingly overlap.
Why LAUNCH Matters
For emerging designers, the economics of Fashion Week can be challenging. Producing a runway show independently requires models, makeup, venue production, photography, staffing, marketing, and significant coordination before a single garment reaches the runway.
LAUNCH is attempting to lower that barrier by creating a shared platform and offering limited subsidized participation opportunities to selected emerging designers.
The objective isn't simply to fill a runway.
It is to identify brands with a point of view and give them an opportunity to be seen during one of the most important weeks on the international fashion calendar.
That makes LAUNCH particularly relevant at a moment when the industry is asking difficult questions about who gets access to Fashion Week, how emerging designers build sustainable businesses, and what a runway presentation should actually accomplish.
Applications Close August 25
LAUNCH is currently reviewing designers and collections for final consideration for the September 12 runway.
Selected emerging designers may also qualify for limited subsidized participation rates, designed to make the NYFW opportunity more accessible while providing professional runway production and brand exposure.
Opportunities are available for:
Designers and fashion brands — submit collections for final runway consideration
Models — casting applications
Press and media — credential requests
Influencers and creators — coverage and collaboration opportunities
Industry professionals — networking and seminar participation
Brand partners and sponsors — experiential and promotional collaborations
Designer submissions close August 25, 2026.
September 12, 2026 | New York City
This September, LAUNCH isn't trying to recreate the traditional Fashion Week formula.
It is building a different one.
One where an emerging designer can move from production to runway, runway to content, content to commerce, and connections to opportunity.
One where manufacturing belongs in the same conversation as design.
And one where the next important fashion brand doesn't necessarily have to begin with an invitation from the establishment.
Sometimes it just needs somewhere to LAUNCH.
